The interviews summarized are some of the most typical or relevant to the investigation and are representative of all interviews conducted.
Curtis
Name: Brenda Curtis
Address: 10914 172nd Street, #16C, Jamaica, NY
Ms. Curtis said she thought she saw Smith enter his apartment early in the morning on Saturday, January 7, 2023.
Curtis said she almost never works weekends, but that particular weekend she had to because three people were sick, and she was on call.
She said she believed she saw Smith when she stepped out around 6:00 a.m. to make a coffee and newspaper run. Curtis is positive someone entered Smith's apartment that morning, but she only saw him from behind, and she merely assumed it was Smith. Curtis doesn't remember if she saw Smith's car in the lot when she left for work.
Curtis described herself as "single and looking" and said she has been trying to get Smith's attention for over a year. She said she had seen him occasionally in the laundry room at the apartments and thought he seemed like a nice enough man. She said Smith has always been polite and pleasant when she has engaged him in conversation, but to date, he hasn't asked her out.
King
Name: Thomas King
Address: 10914 172nd Street, #14B, Jamaica, NY
Mr. King said he has lived in the apartments for four years and has only run into Smith a couple of times. King is positive he didn't see Smith on Friday, January 6, 2023, because King had visitation with his son Robby that weekend. Robby was selling tickets for a baseball fundraiser, and they went door to door. Mr. Smith's blinds were pulled, and he didn't answer the door.
Lamar
Name: Chet Lamar
Address: 10914 172nd Street, #13B, Jamaica, NY
Mr. Lamar didn't remember seeing Smith's car in the parking lot that weekend. Their designated parking spaces are adjacent to one another.
Lamar said Smith is very rarely at his apartment, so Lamar is pretty sure he would remember if Smith were there that weekend.
