Evidence recovery:
Knife and jacket recovered on the bank of Toby Tubby Creek near Ross Avenue. Found by witness Josh C. "Tip" Tatum, Jr. of 923 Ross Avenue. Field tests positive for human blood. Both items appear to have been at that location for multiple days. Jacket matches description of one worn by Cameron Maxwell. Items sent to Crime Lab for analysis.
Interview conducted at interviewee location:
Josh C. "Tip" Tatum — Found knife and jacket while walking home from work at Big Star, located in the Eastgate Shopping Center.
Background check:
Josh C. "Tip" Tatum — Complete. Two DUI convictions (2005, 2009), no other criminal offenses, no known associations with Maxwell family.
January 10, 2014
Interview conducted at the station:
Ronald Sill confirmed that Austin Maxwell was at the Dickerson Ranch from approximately 4:00 a.m. to approximately 5:00 a.m. on January 3, 2014. Given potential reliability issues with Sill, additional witnesses being sought.
Search:
Dickerson ranch location south of Oxford. Uncovered no evidence potentially relevant to this investigation.
January 12, 2014
Evidence recovery
Multiple pieces of luggage found at Hurricane Creek at and around where it passes under Highway 7. Found by witness Tucker Baines of 436 Sisk Avenue who was jogging in the area with his dog. Items appear to have been thrown over bridge, handle of one skate bag is missing. Items appear to have been at that location for multiple days.
Family contacted, Robin Maxwell came to station to assist with identification of the luggage. Mrs. Maxwell identified the items as all of the luggage her children had with them when they left for the bus stop on January 3, 2014. She reviewed the contents and indicated they appeared complete and undisturbed. Items sent to Crime Lab for analysis.
Interview conducted at station:
Tucker Baines — Found luggage while jogging. Journalism professor at Ole Miss, seemed considerably interested in the investigation and the potential evidentiary value of the luggage.
Background check:
Tucker Baines — Complete. Clean, no criminal record, no known associations with Maxwell family.

Phone records:
Obtained Maxwell residence phone records for the period December 13, 2013, through January 3, 2014 Records show calls to the Ice Chalet in Memphis, to coaches Kennedy and Morton and to the Gallagher residence. No other Memphis calls, last calls consistent with interviews. Local calls consistent with interviews, to Rand and Jenkins residences, Magnolia Transit ticket outlet. Long distance calls to family members are consistent with interviews and calls regarding planned trip to Boston. All calls appear both consistent and routine.
January 14, 2014
Anonymous tip:
Dispatch received a call that indicated the bodies of Cameron and Caitlin Maxwell may be located at St. Peter's Cemetery. Caller did not identify himself, left before deputies could detain him. Not clear whether the tip is legitimate or a prank. Investigation ongoing.
K-9 search:
Contacted State Crime Lab to arrange a K-9 search of St. Peter's Cemetery as soon as possible. Waiting for confirmation of K-9 team availability.
