Greg Shepard

Greg Shepard lives next door to the Grubman family.

Participants:

  • Detective S. Murphy
  • Detective E. Parker
  • Greg Shepard

Detective Murphy: Would you please state your name and address for the record?

Greg Shepard: My name is Greg Shepard, and I live where you're standing, 1263 Horne Road.

Detective Murphy: Where were you on Saturday evening?

Greg Shepard: Up on the roof, cleaning out the gutters. I'm originally from up north, and clearing the gutters every autumn is a habit I've never broken.

Detective Parker: Did you happen to see Kurt Grubman that evening?

Greg Shepard: Sure. The whole family went for a bike ride: him, his wife, their little girl. You don't see many families spending time together like that.

Detective Parker: Do you know what time that was?

Greg Shepard: I don't know what time they left, but they got back home after dark. I used my flashlight to lead them up the walk.

Detective Murphy: Did you see anybody leave the house after that?

Greg Shepard: Not that I noticed, but I would have been stretched out on the couch with a beer on my chest. I'm not as young as I used to be.

Detective Murphy: Thanks for your time.

Sally Mines

Sally Mines lives across the street from the Grubman family.

Participants:

  • Detective S. Murphy
  • Detective E. Parker
  • Sally Mines

Detective Murphy: Would you please state your name and address for the record?

Sally Mines: Sally Mines. 1264 Horne Road.

Detective Murphy: Where were you on Saturday evening?

Sally Mines: I was at work until 11:00 p.m. and home by midnight. I got out of work around the same time the pep rally let out. Traffic was a nightmare.

Detective Parker: It took you an hour?

Sally Mines: I don't remember exactly how long it was. I just know it was a long time and that I was definitely home at midnight.

Detective Parker: Fair enough. Do you know the Grubmans?

Sally Mines: Sure enough. Arriving home as late as I do, I like to know what cars don't belong in the neighborhood. I passed a Grubman heading out.

Detective Parker: Could you identify the driver?

Sally Mines: Not nearly. The only reason I remember is the car drove without lights until almost the end of the street.

Detective Murphy: Do you remember which of their cars you saw?

Sally Mines: I don't know. I'm not very good with cars.

Detective Parker: Thank you for your time.
